Indian team hits the nets

The Indian team embarked on its first practice session at the National Cricket Academy ground situated inside the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium premises, here on Monday.

Ahead of their Asia Cup opener against Bangladesh on Wednesday, the players sought to hit the right note with a three-hour training session. Attired in a jersey that appeared to be a pastiche of red and black, they went through the regular warm-up-followed by-net routine.

With music blaring in the background, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma took first strike in the nets to Varun Aaron, Ishwar Pandey, and Stuart Binny.

Meanwhile, skipper Virat Kohli seemed to be swapping notes with coach Duncan Fletcher. Also seen was Aaron getting a massage done from Nitin Patel, the team physiotherapist.

Later in the evening, the Arise Asia Cup 2014 Trophy was unveiled by Kohli, Misbah-ul-Haq, Angelo Mathews, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mohammad Nabi – the captains respectively of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
