The day was dominated by the Australians. First, the pacemen led by Hilfenhaus bundle out India for 161. Second, David Warner's fastest century enables Australia to reply strongly in their first innings.

15.00 Umesh Yadav continues his sixth over. Australian dressing seems relaxed at the moment with both the openers going great guns (Warner 80 and Cowan 37). A beautiful short delivery from Yadav has hit Warner on the helmet. One moment of respite for the Indian bowlers. The ball hits the ear of Warner and he is in trouble. Will Warner score his century before the completion of the first day? We will wait and see.... Cowan is taking his time and just plays second fiddle to David Warner. Cowan gets into the act and adds salt to the injury as he just pulls a ball to the boundary. It is 88 for no loss.
It is unbelievable Australians were 79 for no loss in just 11 overs.
14:25 Another four takes Warner to fifty. Just 36 balls to bring it up. Is it a one-day or Test? David Warner doesn't stop and he flays the Indian bowlers to all round the park and it is 74 for no loss and Warner on 54. A mis-field gives Warner a couple. Is India now a disjointed side? Absolute beauty from Zaheer Khan. David Warner is comprehensively beaten. Australia is on 1 for no loss after one over.
Now we will wait for the Australian innings to come up in a few minutes.
The Indian pacemen Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Vinay Kumar must bowl their heart out to skittle out Australia cheaply. But with the form of Australian batsmen were in, the Indian fans are heartbroken with the performance of their top-order batsmen.
With this kind of performance, this match might be over in four days also like Melbourne and Sydney where India were convincingly beaten by Australia. Once again Australian pacemen did the job for their team and India were found wanting in the bouncy tracks of Australia.
With no fightback in sight, Australia bundles out India for 161 with Hilfenhaus taking four wickets, Siddle three wickets, two wickets for Starc and one wicket for Ryan Harris. The highest scorer for India is Virat Kohli (44).
13.25 Starc continues and Ishant Sharma takes an evasive action with the ball just skidding off the surface and coming in to him. And that is it. Starc takes the wicket of Ishant Sharma. Ishant Sharma edges the ball which was taken by the keeper Haddin. And India all out for 161. Not even the first innings score of 191 in Sydney.
Umesh Yadav is the last man in. Hilfenhaus takes his fourth wicket of the match. Umesh Yadav is the last man in. Yadav plays a good shot with a ball just drifting on the leg for a four. India moves to 161 for 9.
13.20 Still 31 overs to go today. HIlfenhaus continues the bowling. Zaheer Khan trying to smash the first ball. Zaheer tries to smash the second ball and the edge was taken gleefully by Michael Clarke in the slips. Another wicket gone with India stutters at 157 for 9. What is happening in Perth is unbelievable? No Indian batsmen try to stay at the crease longer. When they are settled they play a poor shot and were back in the pavilion. The same old story continues here also. Indians are in no mood for a fightback in this series.
13.15 Starc to continue, Zaheer to face. Zaheer smashes the next ball to the mid-wicket boundary and takes a single and it is 155 for 8. Ishant plays a beautiful shot and takes two runs of the next ball and India inches to 157 for 8. Just to recap the memories of the readers that Ishant Sharma played a splendid knock with Laxman during the Australian visit to India. Ishant shoulders arm the next two balls to the keeper. The bounce and carry in this pitch is very good. A short ball to Ishant from Starc to end the over and it is 157 for 8.
Hilfenhaus good form in this series continues as he takes his third wicket in this Test. Ishant Sharms is the next man and takes a single off the first ball he faces. HIlfenhaus just digs the ball short and Zaheer Khan takes an evasive action. Zaheer cuts the next ball to the third man boundary and takes a single and it is 154 for 8.
13.10 Hilfenhaus to continue the 58th over. Dhoni just taps the ball to the point fielder, no run. A catching practice in the slips. Dhoni is out. Hilfenhaus picks his man. Dhoni tries to play a ball outside the off-stump and gets a thick edge and safely lands to the fielder in the slips. A Poor shot selection. Ponting in the slips takes the second catch of the day. India totters at 152 for 8.
Zaheer Khan comes in and smashes the first ball he faced to the point fielder. Will Zaheer along with the company of his captain Dhoni plays a cameo like he played in Sydney in the second innings. Zaheer Khan plays a defensive shot, a rare to watch from this man. Zaheer smashes the ball straight to fielder at mid-off. Zaheer plays and misses the last ball of the 57th over and India remains at 152 for 7.
Another message from Raghavendra Tummepalli says "Dhoni should be carefull with the balls going away from the wicket . The better thing is to wait for the loose deliveries and convert them into runs as he is the only batsmen left unbeaten.Zaheer was good in second innings of the last match.Hope the same would happen in Perth and cherish the indian spectators in Perth."
Will we see the repeat of the first innings of Sydney Test or...... a spirited fightback from the tailenders. We will wait and see
A full length from Starc picks the wicket of Vinay Kumar and India still in deep trouble with seven wickets gone for 152
A message from Sam Ganapathy How many test matches have India won in a row in the past to call India world champions at anytime in history? The West indies and Ausrralia ruled for 10 years and were feared. Whereas when India beat Bangladesh the people praise the players to the sky as if they've beaten the best team in the world!
13:05 Another four for Dhoni, he reckons attack is the only way to get some runs around here. Slapped over cover this time. Dhoni does this now and then, sudden attacking burst to upset the momentum, then hold back and play for singles when the field is pushed out.
13:03 We're back for the final session with Dhoni and Vinay Kumar at the crease. Dhoni starts with a flicked four through midwicket after walking down to Hilfenhaus, second ball post-Tea.
We will continue with the live updates of the third Test after taking a break for 20 odd minutes.
Like the pre-lunch session India lose two quick wickets to put them on the backfoot. At tea India remains at 144 for 6 with Dhoni and Vinay Kumar batting. Will India post a challenging total for Australia, remains a mystery.
12.35 Vinay Kumar whips the first ball of Siddle's over to the mid-wicket boundary. It is a four and he is mark with the boundary. Vinay plays the next ball off the pads to fine leg and take a single to give Dhoni the strike. This will be last over before Tea. India moves on to 143 for six. Dhoni whips the last ball before Tea to the leg side and takes a single. India still stutters at 144 for six with Dhoni on 4 and Vinay Kumar on 5.
According to Raghavendra Tummepalli "Dhoni would at least score 30 runs. The tailenders should score atleast 15 runs and this pushes the score over 200. Then comes the role of Ishanth and Zaheer, who I guess will bowl upto the mark as the pitch conditions help them take wickets."
Will there be another over before tea? We will wait and see.
12.30 Dhoni edges the first ball from Harris and the ball did not carry to the slip fielder Shaun Marsh. Good bowling by the Australian pacemen on the first day. Once again Dhoni misses the ball and it sails past his bat to the keeper. At the end of the 54th over India still remains on 138 for six.
Vinay Kumar is the next man in with still a ball to go in the 53rd over. Vinay plays it safely and India moves to 138 for six.
After the dismissal of Laxman, the long tail follows with Dhoni being the recognised batsman. It will be interesting to see what Dhoni does with the tail coming up.
12.25 Siddle continues the next over and Dhoni to face him. Dhoni plays a shot straight to Siddle and no run. Dhoni drives through the covers and takes a couple of runs. He is off the mark with this couple and India moves to 137 for 5. Good carry of the cricket ball to the keeper as Dhoni leaves the ball alone. Dhoni pushes the next ball to the cover and takes a quick single and India moves to 138 for five. Once again Siddle strikes. A length ball from Siddle and Laxman edges the ball to the captain Michael Clarke. Like the pre-lunch session, India loses two quick wickets in succession and is in deep trouble with six wickets down. Siddle probing outside the off stump gains him the prized wicket of Laxman.
12:20 Dhoni comes to the crease with a job at hand. Safe to say none of the batsmen can claim to be in form, and Dhoni is no exception. At the end of 52 overs India moves to 135 for five with Laxman batting on 31.
12.15 Kohli takes a quick single off Siddle's next over and he moves on to 44. India 128 for four. Loud appeal for LBW from Siddle and the umpire is unmoved. Siddle bowls straight length and hits the pads but the ball is certainly missing the stumps. Next ball, Laxman beautifully plays a square drive but is well stopped by David Warner at point. Laxman hits the next ball on the up and drives the ball to the cover boundary. Starc stops the ball on the boundary line and Laxman takes three runs. India moves on to 131 for four. Kohli plays an uppish shot and he is out. David Warner takes a brilliant catch. India is 131 for five. Kohli plays a brilliant knock before being dismissed by a cheeky shot.

12.05 Still 42 overs to be bowled today. Peter Siddle is brought back into the attack. Laxman who is batting on 22 leaves the first balls to the keeper. One wonders whether both these batsmen begin to gain confidence after having spent enough time in the middle. Two straight maiden overs from Siddle and Harris. India still remains on 124 for four.
12.00 Harris into the attack. One has to admire the captaincy of Michael Clarke for shuffling his bowlers. Kohli leaves the first two balls to the keeper. Kohli plays the next ball straight to the cover fielder and no run. India still is on 124 for four. Kohli tries to play a straight drive but the ball went straight to the mid-on fielder. Kohli is still on 42 and Laxman on 22 and India remains on 124 for four. It is a maiden over from Harris.
11.57 Starc continues...Kohli tries to leave the first ball but the ball just hits the bat and went straight to the fielder. 11.55 Hilfenhaus continues the next over and Laxman is on strike. Still it is Nelson..... Laxman plays the next ball to the mid-wicket and no run. Still Nelson..... Hilfenhaus pitches the next ball in full and Laxman uses the pace of the ball and drives it to the cover boundary. It is the second boundary for Laxman and India moves to 115 for four. 11.50 Starc continues the next over. Kohli whips the first ball of the over to the square leg boundary and it is four. Kohli is playing wonderfully well and he moves on to 39 (6 boundaries) and India to 108 for four. Starc bowling is up to the mark and whenever he errs in length Kohli just whips him off his legs. A short pitch delivery from Starc, Kohli tries to hook but the bounce is too much for him and he leaves the ball. Once again Starc strays the ball on the leg side and Kohli just guides the ball to the square leg boundary and takes a couple of runs and moves on to 41 and India to 111 for four. (Oh it is Nelson)
11.48 Hilfenhaus continues the next over with Laxman on strike. Good solid defence from Laxman and both the batsmen are looking good to play a big knocks. At the end of 44 overs it is 104 for four.
11.45 Michael Clarke brings in Starc into the attack. He shuffles his bowlers to bowl short spells in this hot and humid conditions. Laxman is on strike. Starc is indeed bowling beautifully and the batsmen are very careful against him. One has to wonder the field placement of Michael Clarke. He is just keeping the right persons in the right places for Laxman and Laxman couldn't penetrate the on-side field. Starc bowls a beautiful ball. Laxman gets an inside edge and runs for a single and India moves to 100. The next ball Kohli whips vociferously to the square-leg boundary and it is four and India moves on to 104 for four. Kohli on 35 and Laxman on 10.
If India level the series 2-2, India will maintain their position at the No.2 and if they loses South Africa will move to the second position.
11.38 Hilfenhaus, the leading wicket-taker in this series, continues the 42nd over of the match. Kohli on strike. The young man has shown some resilience in this Test and he is on course for a big knock. A maiden over from Hilfenhaus and India remains at 99 and four and drinks were called.
