ICC accepts Jadeja’s request for appeal

July 31, 2014 12:42 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:31 pm IST - Southampton:

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has accepted Ravindra Jadeja’s request for an appeal against the Level 1 code of conduct violation judgement delivered by match referee David Boon, who had enquired into the skirmish between the Indian all-rounder and James Anderson in the first Test at Trent Bridge.

An ICC press release stated: “The appeal will be heard at the same time as the disciplinary hearing taking place in respect of the charge (Level 3) against James Anderson on Friday (August 1), in Southampton.

“His Honour Gordon Lewis AM will oversee the proceedings via video conference. The ICC will make no further comment on this matter until the hearing is concluded.”

After all the ambiguities around whether Jadeja can press an appeal against a Level 1 offence verdict, ICC’s latest view has justified the Indian skipper M.S. Dhoni’s angst about the whole fracas that revolved around Anderson allegedly pushing Jadeja at Trent Bridge.
