Ranjib Biswal looked forward to the challenge of being the new chairman of the IPL Governing Council.
The 43-year-old Biswal said here on Sunday, “I am confident of a controversy-free IPL next year. I am looking forward to the tournament. Together with the BCCI, the IPL Governing Council can overcome all difficulties.”
Biswal, a former off-spinning all-rounder for Orissa, figured in 41 first class matches, scoring 2170 runs at 40.18 and picking up 153 wickets at 23.83.
He said, “Being a cricketer myself, I can see things from the players’ perspective. I have also been the Indian team manager and know how to cope with different situations.”
The Orissa Cricket Association chief said, “I am thankful to the BCCI for giving me this opportunity. This is a big responsibility. I hope to call a meeting of the governing council soon. We will look at the different issues then.” — Special Correspondent
