Niranjan Shah said he didn’t nurse any grudge after his term as vice-president wasn’t extended at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) annual general meeting on Sunday. Mr. Shah, reportedly not part of the N. Srinivasan camp, was replaced by Ravi Sawant from the West Zone.
“It’s part of the democratic process,” he told a group of journalists at the conclusion of the meeting. When asked why his tenure wasn’t extended, Mr. Shah replied that “it’s not necessary (to seek an extension).”
The 69-year-old, noting that Mr. Srinivasan chaired the meeting, added that the BCCI conducted the AGM in accordance to its constitution.
The former BCCI secretary remained non-committal to a question on who would handle the Board’s affairs if Mr. Srinivasan wasn’t allowed to take charge by the Supreme Court. “I don’t know. Let’s see.” — Sports Reporter
