Using the centre pitch at the Brabourne Stadium and simulating match-like situations seemed to be the primary objective of the Indian team management on the second day of the preparatory camp here.
The focus was once again on left-arm seamer Zaheer Khan. He made every effort to find his rhythm bowling in the morning and afternoon sessions and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh also had some meaningful practice.
Sachin Tendulkar spent nearly two hours practising against a variety of bowlers. All action happened in the presence of coach Duncan Fletcher and bowling coach Joe Dawes.
Apart from Zaheer, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, R. Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha and Harbhajan, there were several net bowlers present as well.
Clearly the endeavour has been to bring the 15-member team together along with the support staff ahead of the opening Test at Motera from November 15.
The morning session indicated as to who would probably bat for India at No. 6. Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir were followed by Cheteshwar Pujara and Tendulkar and then by Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh.
In the afternoon session it was Ajinkya Rahane and M.S. Dhoni followed by Murali Vijay and Ojha, Ashwin and Zaheer and then finally by Harbhajan and Yadav.
The camp will conclude on Sunday.
The team will leave for Ahmedabad on Monday.
