The first signs of discontent in the Pakistan team after its ouster from the World Twenty20 have surfaced with all-rounder Abdul Razzaq expressing his disappointment at being dropped from the lost semifinal against Sri Lanka.
Razzaq, who returned to his hometown Lahore, told the media at the airport that it was the unilateral decision of the captain to not play him although the team management thought differently.
“I know the team management didn’t drop me it was Hafeez and he should now speak up and admit it was his own decision,” Razzaq said.
Hafeez, on returning to Pakistan on Saturday, had claimed that the decision to drop Razzaq was taken by the team management since they wanted to play someone who could bowl spin.
Razzaq was played in just one match of the tournament against Australia, in which he scored a useful 22 runs but was not given a single over by his captain.
In the very next match against Sri Lanka, Hafeez preferred to pick Sohail Tanvir in place of Razzaq in a low scorer — a decision, which has been criticised by former players and critics.
“I was very sad and disappointed to not get a chance to play in the semifinal. I was mentally prepared for the big match and it came as a huge letdown to know I was not playing,” Razzaq said.
“Hafeez should not deflect the blame to the board and management and should own up that it was his decision to drop me,” he added.

I completely agree with Muhammad and others. Razzaq is an asset to Pakistan cricket much like Irfan to India. All the sub-continent captains excel in politics and this Pakistan team is no different. There are some useless players like Imran Nazir, Shoaib Malik and Hafeez in which one of them is a captain unfortunately. I feel sorry for Razzaq but God help him in future.
Abdul Razzaq has been one of the best all rounders the world have ever seen & he is the best hitter in the history of Pakistan's cricket. He won more matches than Hafeez for Pakistan & some of the matches he won single handedly. To drop him from such a big game was the loss of not only Abdul Razzaq but of the whole nation.
Now, the questions that why Hafeez has been so much empowered that even he does not lis iten to the management; & ultimately nation suffers due to such blunders.
Abdul Razzak is an experienced and extremely reliable player, who has performed on several occasions for Pakistan in difficult situations with his bat and ball. Once selected in the team for the tournament, then there should have been no reason to leave him out from the playing XI from any game, in view of his all round utility as a senior player. That this did not happen, is a sad commentary on the part of the Pakistan team management. Perhaps, his exclusion from the team that played the semi finals, could be one of the reasons for Pakistan not winning the match.
Politics prevails in all the level & Proffessions, in which good &
honest people will bear the brunt. This is the cruel world, and person
who plays politics don't bother about country and objective. These kind
of people should be taken into trail and punish severely.
