J. Gowjith Subash (123, 145b, 12x4, 5x6) and skipper P. Shijit Chandran (100 n.o., 160b, 6x4, 1x6), who scored his second ton in this season’s TNCA first-division league, helped Alwarpet declare its innings on 421 for four and secure a first-innings lead of 278 runs against Southern Railway Institute on day two of a ‘B’ zone encounter.

Left-arm spinner R. Alexander’s six-wicket haul helped AG’s Office restrict Vijay CC to 306 after the latter began the day on 235 for six.

At CPT-IP, Yashpal Singh (192, 365b, 476m, 27x4, 2x6) continued to make merry as India Pistons finished with 408. Grand Slam, in response, went to stumps on 107 for two.
S. Chandrasekar’s unbeaten century (109 n.o., 217b, 7x4) powered Aruna to 411 in its first innings against IOB, which scored 28 for no loss in reply before rain curtailed play.
Off-spinner M. Prabhu’s four-wicket haul played a key role in Jolly Rovers gaining the first-innings lead versus Young Stars.
