Follow-up after studying judgment: Shivlal Yadav

January 23, 2015 02:28 am | Updated December 04, 2021 11:28 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India interim chief, N. Shivlal Yadav, said on Thursday that the BCCI would take necessary follow-up measures after a thorough study of all the observations made by the Supreme Court in its judgement on the betting scandal in the IPL.

“No one is above the law, and as one appointed by the honourable Supreme Court as the interim chief, I am aware of the moral and legal obligations in the wake of today’s developments,” Mr. Yadav said in a chat with The Hindu .

He said everyone was aware of the consequences. “Let us not presume anything and engage in debates without knowing the full details of the judgment.”

Agreeing that the immediate task (as per the Supreme Court order) was to ensure smooth and fair elections in the BCCI, Mr. Yadav said, “A BCCI Working Committee meeting will be convened very soon to take stock of the issues,” he said.

On the future of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, he said since the Supreme Court had appointed a committee, the BCCI would implement its recommendations in the best interest of the sport and players.

“I don’t think the future of the game is going to be affected by today’s developments. I believe that the Indian team (now in Australia) will stay focused as it has nothing to do with issues back home,” Mr. Yadav said.
