Chennai Super Kings’ trans-Tasman pair of coach Stephen Fleming and senior batsman Michael Hussey arrived here on Thursday night for the IPL set to begin next week.
The support staff, including physiotherapist Tommy Simsek and trainer Gregory King landed in the city on Wednesday. “(Haryana seamer) Mohit Sharma arrived this evening. The local boys… (Subramaniam) Badrinath, Anirudha (Srikkanth), B. Aparajith, Vijay Shankar, and R. Karthikeyan will report on Friday morning, while (Shadab) Jakati will join us in the afternoon,” said CSK manager Russell Radhakrishnan.
West Indies cricketers Dwayne Bravo and Jason Holder were scheduled to arrive in the early hours of Saturday. Australian quick Ben Laughlin and fielding coach Steve Rixon would touch down later on the same day.
Russell also said that R. Ashwin and M. Vijay would join the team on April 2. “We expect (Suresh) Raina and Ravindra Jadeja to reach on April 1. We have given them a small break.
“As far as the arrival of Wriddhiman Saha, Ankit Rajpoot, and Imtiaz Ahmed is concerned, it depends on how their teams finish (in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament). Fast bowler Dirk Nannes joined the team last week.
The team will commence its training at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Friday evening.
