England were 128 for two at tea after winning the toss on the opening day of the first Ashes Test against Australia at the Gabba on Thursday.

The tourists lost openers Alastair Cook (2) and Mark Stoneman (53) as James Vince batted out through to tea.

At the interval, Vince was on 72 with skipper Joe Root not out one.

The Hampshire right-hander brought up his 50 off 106 balls as the tourists recovered after the early loss of senior opener Alastair Cook for just two.
