Former ICC president Ehsan Mani has criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for agreeing to tour India for a short one-day series later this month.
“I think the PCB is wrong to have agreed to this. If it is a political decision, then the PCB should have asked the politicians to make sure that India reciprocated by coming and playing against Pakistan even if it was at a neutral venue,” Mani said in an interview on Pakpassion.net website.
Mani said he couldn’t understand how the PCB agreed to play in India when the nation owes Pakistan two series, which it has cancelled out on.
He said from a reciprocity point of view, it is totally wrong that Pakistan should be going to India.
“My opinion is Pakistan should not be going to India at all. India or the BCCI went out of its way after the Mumbai attack to isolate Pakistan cricket at the ICC,” Mani said.
He pointed out that BCCI knew well that by refusing to play Pakistan even at a neutral venue, they were going to cost the PCB a huge amount of money.
“This short series will enable BCCI to earn over USD 100 million, probably as much as USD 150 million. All we’re doing is to help India make a lot of money out of us, with no assurance of a reciprocal tour,” he noted.
“It is sort of trying to get the headlines. I don’t see any benefit to Pakistan cricket in terms of getting cricket back to Pakistan by playing this series. Certainly, I am not in favour of it.”

Pakistan is desparate to get back to cricketing ties with India. Because 80% of their cricketing revenues are gained & sustained through their cricketing rivalary with India. So they will always go an extra mile to resume cricketing ties with India. Such desparation from Pakistan is welcome in other fields too.
This is very funny. Despite the Pakistanis who have come from sea route
(26/11), India encouraging Pakistanis to come in aerial route
(Cricketers & fans).
So, Mani- Be happy that India is letting share profit by this series and
encouraging cricket in Pakistan.
India's decision to not play in the Emirates dates to long before the current insecurity
in Pakistan. It was due to the corruption and betting issues that India was stopped
from playing there. So India is being consistent in it's decision making. The other
option is, of course, to play in England or Australia.
I think Eshan Mani is right on some grounds, but coming to India or not
is completely left to the PCB and the players. But I think a series with
India, surely will do some good to both the teams.
Mr.Mani is correct. PCB is taking advantage of Pakistan's
eagerness to play against India.
I agree with ehsaan's views and morever india will loose to pakistan in ODIs too if they continue playing with this pathetic form.
Mr Mani forgets the safety aspect of any tour. Any team travelling to Pakistan is not assured of personal safety. Sri Lankans will vouch for that.
No country is willing to go to Pakistan. PCB is bankrupt and one way of getting some money into the coffer is to swallow your pride and get yourself invited to other countries.
India need not and should not play at neutral venues given the fan base in India.
There is a simmering protest aginst the visit of Pakistan Cricket Team to India due to the non cooperation of the Pakistani Government in the Mumbai attacks.
Mr Mani should be congratulating the PCB on negotiating an Indian tour instead of criticizing.
