A senior Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) official on Thursday confirmed that the Eden Gardens will play host to the first ever day-night Test in the country when India take on New Zealand later this year.

The Tour Programme and Fixtures Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the fixture stating that New Zealand will play three Test matches and five ODIs.

The venues for the Test matches are Indore, Kanpur and Kolkata.

“We had written to the BCCI and they have accepted our request. Eden Gardens will host the day-night Test against New Zealand. This is fantastic news,” a top CAB official told IANS.

The New Zealand series will be followed by five Test matches, three One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals against England.
