Dramatic win for Rajasthan

Rajasthan CA clinched a dramatic win over Jharkhand CA in the Safi Darashah Trophy here on Friday, defeat turning into victory after penalty runs were awarded.

Chasing 165 to win, Rajasthan was originally bowled out for 153, Jaskaran Singh taking seven for 62. But Jharkhand was then penalised 24 runs for being four overs short, meaning Rajasthan’s total swelled to 177.

“We thought we’d lost but the match referee came to us once the match got over and told us,” the Rajasthan batsman Robin Bist said. “We were aware of the rules but we didn’t know that they were short or how many overs short they were.”

Elsewhere, KSCA XI wrapped up a comfortable 10-wicket victory over Goa CA, the left-arm spinner K.P. Appanna taking 10 wickets in the match. Saurashtra CA, CA of Bengal, Haryana CA and KSCA President’s XI all triumphed.

In Mysore, a valuable century by D. Shivakumar enabled Andhra CA to gain a vital first innings lead over KSCA Secretary's XI. Baroda CA went for the kill against Assam CA but fell 15 runs short of the target and had to settle for a draw.

The scores: At Bangalore: KSCA XI 527 for six in 120 overs and four for no loss in 0.3 overs bt Goa CA 304 in 86.3 overs and 223 in 66.5 overs (Ravikant Shukla 84, Amit Yadav 30, K.P. Appanna five for 64).

Jharkhand CA 298 in 111.1 overs and 240 in 67.1 overs (Akash Verma 113, Madhur Khatri four for 67) lost to Rajasthan CA 374 in 102.5 overs and 177 in 41.5 overs (Robin Bist 36, Siddarth Saraf 31, Jaskaran Singh seven for 62, Rahul Shukla three for 39). (Rajasthan’s second innings score inclusive of 24 penalty runs).

KSCA Colts 295 in 107.3 overs and 280 in 70.2 overs lost to Saurashtra CA 368 in 92.4 overs and 211 for six in 58.4 overs (Jaydev Shah 79, Arpit Vasavada 62 n.o., Chirag Patik 38, Abhishek Bhat three for 53).

CA of Bengal 359 in 113.5 overs and 377 for six decl. in 66 overs bt Tripura CA 299 in 88 overs and 226 in 77.3 overs (Samrat Singha 53, Abhijit Dey 48, Udiyan Bose 30, Iresh Saxena three for 49, Saurabish Lahiri three for 56).

Odisha CA 194 in 71.4 overs and 257 in 85.5 overs lost to Haryana CA 274 in 86.5 overs and 187 for one in 60 overs (Abhimanyu Khod 75 n.o., Sunny Singh 61 n.o.).

Kerala CA 388 for eight in 120 overs and 327 for five in 60 overs (V.A. Jagadeesh 72, Rohan Prem 146, Raiphi Vincent Gomez 43 n.o.) lost to KSCA President’s XI 428 for eight in 120 overs and 291 for one in 56.4 overs (Liyan Khan 145 n.o., Kunal Kapoor 113 n.o.).

At Mysore: KSCA Secretary’s XI 479 for nine decl. in 119 overs and 36 for no loss in eight overs drew with Andhra CA 513 in 119.5 overs (Shiva Kumar 109, D. Ajay Kumar 50, Sinan Abdul Khadeer three for 119, J. Suchith three for 184).

Assam CA 222 in 74.2 overs and 198 in 97.1 overs (Krishna Das 31 n.o., Sumit Singh five for 26) vs Baroda CA 148 in 52.3 overs and 258 for six in 53 overs (Abhimanyu Chauhan 77, Saurabh Wakaskar 71, Kethan Panchal 33).
