Gautam Gambhir has urged his fans and well-wishers not to “sympathize” with him for being dropped from the Test team as he is ready to “fight” in order to earn his place back national squad.
“No sympathies plz,” the diminutive opener tweeted after the news of his exclusion.
The left-hander will be leading India A against the Australians in a three-day first-class tie and the 31-year-old Delhi lad is looking forward to that game.
“Lookin forward to training n then d india a game. Chin up guys, its time to show some steel. Come on,” he further wrote on his twitter handle @5gautamgambhir.
Gambhir is no stranger to exclusions as he had been in and out of the India team during his formative years in international cricket.
On his own admission this is not the first time that his back is against the wall and he is willing to fight it out with his “chin up.”
“Had my bak to d wall in d past 2, dis is no difrent. Will fight,” he commented.
The KKR captain however didn’t forget to congratulate his junior statemate Shikhar Dhawan as well as Murali Vijay for getting selected for the first two Tests.
“Very hapy 4 vijay n shikhar.”
The teamman in him was evident as he signed off wishing luck to his teammates.
“Want India to win @ all costs, wid or widou me.”

Gambhir has been rightly dropped, after a string of consistent failures. It is also nice to see that he has a positive attitude and is willing to fight and get back his place in the Indian team. Let all our cricketers follow this example so that we get a good crop of men from whom the best of the day can be chosen to play international cricket, and WIN !
Indeed the selectors have rightly dropped Gambhir but the inclusion of Shewag is surprising, may be he will be kept as stand by for Vijay and Shikar Dhavan to open. Harbajan should be grateful to the selectors for having given him the distinction of being in the elite group of hundred Test Caps. He should retire at the end of this test even if by chance he does well
With three consecutive years without a century and no significant
performances, Gauty was only a liability to the team. He must thank
his stars for having played this longer and I do not think if he can
ever stage a come back again. Any team to do well, needs a good start
and Viru and Gauty have hardly ever given it of late. Viru too can not
now take his place for granted and by choosing four openers, the
message has quite clearly been given to him to either perform or
suffer the fate of gauty and perish. Many are asking why Vijay?
Players like Vijay, Dinesh Karthink, etc., can any time be thrown in
to play international cricket all of a sudden from nowhere and they'd
still do reasonably well not withstanding their domestic performances.
Linking Vijay's selection to Srinivasan, Dhoni and CSK is utter
stupidity. In a nation with a 120 crore population with so many
divisions based on language, region, religion, none can satisfy all.
