The local police on Monday requested Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s family to inform them about India captain’s early morning bike rides purely for security reason.

Dhoni’s love for mean machine is well known and in the last few days, he has been seen driving early morning to the local stadium to watch the training of young archers and footballers.

“He can ride a bike, but we have informed them (family) to tell us before he goes out anywhere (so that) escort parties could go,” Senior Superintendent of Police Saket Kumar Singh told PTI.

The captain of the Chennai Super Kings went to train riding a bike but he had a security cover deployed for his journey from residence to stadium and back.

The police will have to be on their toes till September 28 when the last CLT20 match in Ranchi concludes.

He is not a kid. If he is abducted or harmed he is fully responsible. Why should the police make unwarranted and undue fuss.

two things spring to my mind upon reading this article 1. the title is deliberately sensationalistic. 2. why are we wasting our policemen on Dhoni, who is just a sportsman?

One thing that celebs in India miss is public life. I think people should start avoiding celebs on the street. After all they are also humans.

That is what the police in this country does cover the VIPs politicians, sportsmen, bollywood 'stars', while exploiting the common men. Yesterday evening I saw two policemen collecting their daily rs 50 from one of the foodstalls under Begumpet flyover bridge, which they said they collect from all of them. What a jokes of institutions we have in this country.

It is pathetic to know, police force is wasted on such things. Is the country so insecure or is he someone who legally deserve such treatment?

This is disgraceful. Dear SP, you are there for the security of the people of the city and not to escort the high profile residents to their bike rides !

Is Dhoni is being charged for police escort services? Could he not afford his own personal guards?
