Three out of five major cricket associations in Uttarakhand, on Monday, united to attain the long-pending affiliation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Objecting to the BCCI affiliation plea by multiple cricket associations from Uttarakhand, BCCI, in the year 2008, while considering the pending application for affiliations, stated that the BCCI had received “more than one application” from Uttarakhand.

On Monday, three associations – Uttarakhand Cricket Association, United Cricket Association, and Abhimanyu Cricket Academy – in response to the issue of multiple associations from the State applying for the BCCI affiliation highlighted by the BCCI, agreed to unite under Uttarakhand Cricket Association for attaining the affiliation.

“The issue of multiple associations from Uttarakhand pursuing the affiliation has been an important reason behind the State being consistently denied of the affiliation by the BCCI,” senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Trivendra Rawat associated with the United Cricket Association said while addressing the media, on Monday.

“Two other associations – Uttaranchal Cricket Association and Cricket Association of Uttaranchal – must also unite to represent a strong case in front of the BCCI in its upcoming meet so that the State cannot be denied affiliation,” Alok Garg, Director of the Uttarakhand Cricket Association said.

Jharkhand got affiliated to the BCCI in the year 2004 and Chhattisgarh got its affiliation to the Board in the year 2008, however, Uttarakhand which too attained statehood in the year 2000 as Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh is still awaiting affiliation, Mr. Garg said.

In the absence of the affiliation to the Board the State level cricked players were being deprived to selection, representatives of various cricket associations said while addressing the media.
