Cook considers captaincy after ODI series defeat

Alastair Cook has given his strongest indication he is considering his future as England cricket captain after Australia took a winning 3-0 lead in the five-match one-day series with a seven-wicket win in Sunday’s third match.

England has now lost eight-straight matches to Australia after its 5-0 loss in the Ashes test series and the first three one-day internationals. A despairing Cook told reporters after Sunday’s match that he would assess his future when he returned home at the end of England’s current tour.

Cook said “it’s been two weeks since someone has asked me that question (about the captaincy) and a lot has happened in two weeks. We have kept losing games of cricket and I haven’t been able to turn it around.”
