Chesterfield passes away

Eminent cricket journalist Trevor Chesterfield, better known as Chesters, has passed away, his family said on Wednesday.

Chesterfield was born in New Zealand before shifting base to South Africa. He moved his home to Sri Lanka in 2004.

He wrote a weekly column with ‘The Island' newspaper here since then.

A renowned cricket writer known for his forthright comments, Chesterfield contributed guest columns to ‘Times of India' and many Indian cricket websites.

The funeral is to take place on Saturday at Moratuwa, a suburb south of here.
