Chargers’ fate hangs in the balance

September 05, 2012 12:43 am | Updated June 28, 2016 07:56 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Deccan Chargers’ future in the Indian Premier League (IPL) would be known 11 days from now.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India Working Committee met here on Tuesday, but failed to arrive at a decision. Keeping in mind the legal implications involved, the Board’s Working Committee will meet again in Chennai on September 15 to take a decision.

There were indications that the Board might invite bids from prospective buyers and let the IPL Governing Council and the Working Committee to settle the issue.

The Board would ideally like the buyer to settle the liabilities, including players’ fee, for IPL V.

The Board also held discussions with Deccan Chargers’ bankers during the course of the day.
