In the first official reaction to the sting operation on the alleged spot-fixing by some players, IPL franchise Deccan Chargers issued a statement late on Tuesday confirming the suspension of its player T.P. Sudhindra.

“In connection with reports in the press about a certain ‘sting operation', which has apparently referred to the involvement of a few players who are currently playing in the IPL 2012, one of which is engaged by the Deccan Chargers team, the BCCI has issued a directive to the concerned franchises to suspend all players whose names have featured in the sting operation.

“Accordingly, in terms of this directive from the BCCI, we have suspended T.P. Sudhindra from playing any more matches in the 2012 season, pending an inquiry by the BCCI in terms of its constitution in this regard,” Mr. E. Venkatram Reddy, COO, Deccan Chargers, said in a statement.
