Chandrasekar shines in TNCA Districts XI’s win

The TNCA Districts XI, with left-arm spinner D.T. Chandrasekar scalping five, defeated holder Uttar Pradesh CA by 94 runs in a first round match of the Kalpathi AGS all-India Buchi Babu tournament here on Saturday.

Umang Sharma notched up 83 (134b, 11x4) while Akshdeep made 65 (96b, 5x4, 2x6) for Uttar Pradesh.

In another first round match, Mumbai lost seven wickets for 46 runs in 66 deliveries to collapse from 319 for three to 365 all out against Gujarat. Left-arm spinner Hemings Patel took five wickets for the winner. Siddhesh Lad’s 145 (211b, 16x4) went in vain for Mumbai.

Hyderabad outplayed TNCA XI, surpassing the host’s 194 without losing a wicket. Openers Tanmay Agarwal (104 not out, 174b, 18x4) and Akshath Reddy (81 not out, 148b, 10x4) guided their side home in only 52.2 overs.

Despite centuries from Govind Podder (137, 186b, 19x4) and Arvind Singh (102, 164b, 8x4, 2x6) Odisha, dismissed for 368, went down to Kerala by 44 runs. Paceman M. Nideesh and left-arm spinner M. Monish prised out three batsmen each.

Pacemen W. Antony Dhas and Sunil Sam grabbed three wickets each as TNCA President’s XI defeated Assam by 121 runs.

Assam was bowled out for 156 with Rishav Das top-scoring with 63 (129b, 12x4).

Kerala 412 for nine in 100 overs beat Odisha 368 in 90.4 overs (Govind Podder 137, Arvind Singh 102).
