Offspinner Graeme Swann has been called up by England for next month’s Champions Trophy after making his recovery from an elbow injury that ruled him out of the recent tour of New Zealand.

Paceman Tim Bresnan is also in the 15-man squad following his comeback from a similar injury, with selectors happy to throw the bowlers straight back into action rather than keep them fresh for the Ashes series against Australia starting in July.

With Kevin Pietersen out with a knee injury, Ravi Bopara was recalled and is one of six survivors along with Bresnan and Swann from the last Champions Trophy in 2009.

England will use the same squad of players for the three-match one-day series against New Zealand that precedes the Champions Trophy, which starts on June 6.
