Vijay Mallya, owner of Royal Challengers Bangalore, requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL Governing Council to be stringent with their rules regarding the purchase of uncapped Indian players in the following days.
“Some of the young cricketers have expensive ideas and we don't want a repeat of what happened to Ravindra Jadeja,” said Mallya besides lauding the “transparent” auction process.
The IPL Chairman, Chirayu Amin, said that stern action will be taken against erring team owners and players who violate the rules. “We will be watching closely and yes the slabs for uncapped Indian players remain at 30, 20 and 10 lakhs each.
“I admit it is difficult to keep a watch on under-hand dealings, but we are doing our best and we will take strict action against the violators,” Amin said. — Special Correspondent
