The two—day hearing of the Cricket Board’s Disciplinary Committee probing allegations of financial irregularities against former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, which was scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday in New Delhi, has been put off to next month.
The three—member panel, comprising Chirayu Amin, Arun Jaitley and Jyotiraditya Scindia, would meet from October 12—15 in New Delhi.
The postponement of the hearing was due to the unavailibility of Keshav Tahilramani of the suspended IPL franchise ‘Kochi Tuskers’ franchise, sources told PTI.
The Kochi franchise took part in the last edition of the Twenty20 League and was later terminated by the BCCI’s General Body earlier this month for committing “irremediable breach” of its contractual obligations.
Keshav was to have been cross—examined by Modi’s panel of lawyers at the two—day sitting. But he did not attend it citing “urgent business commitments”, according to sources. The decision to cancel the hearing was taken on Tuesday night.
One of Modi’s panel of lawyers would cross—examine one of BCCI’s witnesses in London, while the members of the Board’s disciplinary panel, its lawyers and Modi’s lawyers would join via a video conference, it was learnt.
