Bangladesh struggled at 136 for five in its second innings when lunch was called on the fifth and final day of the first Test at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here on Thursday.

Chasing 415 for an improbable triumph and needing to bat out the wholeday to secure a dogged draw, Bangladesh lost Mohammad Ashraful and Raqibul Hasan as Ishant Sharma’s morning spell of 7-3-11-2, helped India fancy its chances of securing a victory.

Opener Tamim Iqbal offered some resistance through his 52 before Indian captain Virender Sehwag lured the edge.
