Badrinath praises Aparajith

November 10, 2012 02:27 am | Updated November 16, 2021 09:56 pm IST - Chennai:

Tamil Nadu batsman S. Badrinath praised B. Aparajith for his unbeaten 85 against Karnataka at Chepauk here on Friday.

“He applied himself and was very positive,” the former State captain said.

Aparajith’s previous highest Ranji score was 44 against Delhi last season.

“It is not easy for a new batsman to settle down on this pitch. It is too slow and sticky to my liking. We took some time to score after lunch and then opened out.

“Myself and Aparajith will seek to add more runs to this stand on Saturday.”

Assisting spinners

The surface, Badrinath believed, would assist the spinners in the days to come.

“So we have a definite advantage,” he said.

Karnataka captain R. Vinay Kumar felt the pitch provided little for the pacemen.

He said the surface offered more to the spinners and added he could do nothing about a lost toss.

Vinay was confident that his team would fight back on day two.
