The Australians folded for 202, chasing India's 252, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, in the 2nd ODI on Thursday. While captain Virat Kohli's 92 took an otherwise listless India to a defendable target, the bowlers stepped up with timely regular strikes, including a star performance from chinaman-bowler Kuldeep Yadav.

In the 33rd over of the game, Kuldeep Yadav drove a nail into the Australian chase with a hat-trick, removing Matthew Wade (2 off 8), Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins with two chinaman deliveries and a googly. As Yadav thus became the third Indian to take a hat-trick in ODIs, the shell-shocked Australia found themselves struggling to keep pace with a required rate of over 6 an over. The Aussies would lose their last two remaining wickets over the next 10 overs.

In the 30th over, Hardik Pandya bent his back to send the fluent Steve Smith (59 off 76) back, caught in the deep, raising India's hopes.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar prevented the Aussies from setting up a strong opening partnership, removing the dangerous David Warner (1 off 9) and Hilton Cartwright (1 off 15) in a tight early spell that reduced the visitors to 9/2. While Steven Smith and Travis Head (39 off 39) got going with the boundaries, Yuzvendra Chahal ended the 76-run partnership by getting rid of Head. Glenn Maxwell threatened to reprise his form from the series opener, but was soon done in by Chahal, leaving the Australians in a spot of bother at 106/4 at the end of 23 overs.

Earlier, India captain Virat Kohli's 92 stood India in good stead as wickets kept falling at regular intervals, leading to India getting all out for 252 at the second One Day International match between India and Australia in Kolkata on Thursday.

Kohli played some scintillating shots for his 92 before he was out to Coulter-Nile, immediately after the dismissal of Kedar Jadhav for 24.

After scoring 5, former India captain M.S. Dhoni, who is in good nick, was dismissed by Richardson.

After some fine batting display and a century partnership between Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, India lost Rahane and Pandey quickly. Rahane was run-out for 55 and Aghar accounted for Manish Pandey.

After the early jitters of the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, India consolidated upon their score with the help of half-centuries from Indian captain Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane.

India are fielding an unchanged side from the last game in Chennai which they won by 26 runs while Australia have made two changes to their side.

Capricious weather conditions, more than a supercilious opposition, appeared to be keeping the visitor preoccupied ahead of the match as rain caused persistent interruptions to its schedule ever since it arrived here on Monday. There is more forecast on match day.
