Former India captain Anil Kumble on Friday termed as 'serious' the incident involving Australian cricketer, Luke Pomersbach, who was arrested for allegedly molesting an American woman and severely beating up her fiance at a city hotel here.

“I was on a flight. I just landed and whatever reports I have seen is from the press, media. Luke, so far with the RCB, has been exceptional, but it’s an unfortunate incident. It is disappointing,” said Kumble, mentor of the IPL team, Royal Challengers Bangalore.

He also promised an internal investigation into the issue.

“Surely, internally also, we will look into this matter, it’s a serious matter,” he said.

“RCB will certainly not play Luke henceforth and we will co—operate with those who are investigating the incident,” he added.

The RCB cricketer allegedly misbehaved with the woman, a US citizen, at a five—star hotel early this morning and has been arrested, the police said.

The victim claimed that the player invited himself for some drinks with the couple and some common friends from Mumbai in their room. She left the men alone and went to her bedroom for catching some sleep but Luke followed her and misbehaved with her.

When her fiancee intervened, Luke allegedly beat him up, she alleged.

The woman’s fiancee has been admitted to a hospital where a CT scan has been done, doctors attending to him said.

Pomersbach has not played a single IPL match so far this season.

The 27—year—old Pomersbach’s conduct prompted RCB owner Vijay Mallya to suspend the batsman till the time he is cleared of the charges.
