The chairman of the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League Rajiv Shukla, told the media here on Friday that the issue of Pakistani players' participation in the IPL had not yet been finalised.

There were some reports and speculation that the council would be discussing this crucial subject on Friday. But Shukla stated that there had been no discussion on this subject.

“It was not listed in the agenda today and hence there was no question of discussing the issue about Pakistani players' participation. We will have another meeting soon to discuss this and many other issues also,” he said.

Shukla, who met the media after the meeting here this morning, said that no decision on the Kochi franchisee was taken as they were still seeking some details. “We will have another meeting shortly on the subject,” he said. “However, the interest of the players will be protected,” he said.

No venue change for RR

“It is not possible,” was his curt reply to the proposal by Rajasthan Royals to change its venue from Jaipur to Ahmedabad. “The reason is pretty simple — Ahmedabad itself as a city can always bid the next time,” he said.

Shukla also dismissed the impression that the many players are feeling fatigued because of too much cricket, including the IPL.

“There are very few players who are involved in all three formats and there are no complaints about the fatigue factor,” he said.

Another meeting soon

“Any how we have asked the physiotherapists and trainers of the various teams to work out a way for better results,” he said. “We will be meeting soon again to discuss many important issues and take final decisions.”

Later in a press release issued by BCCI joint-secretary Sanjay Jagdale, it was said that the Governing Council had asked the management team to come back with options for the format and structure for the 2012 edition of IPL.

The council has also approved the various operational items for the forthcoming IPL season. Also, the player regulations and the trading modalities will be discussed at the next meeting of the council.

The Governing Council also approved various operational items for the forthcoming IPL season. The dates of the DLF IPL 2012 were confirmed and the event will begin in Chennai from April 4 with an inaugural ceremony a day before the first match, and end on May 27.
