The BCCI is likely to choose Bengaluru as the venue for the one-off Test against Afghanistan in June when the weather is expected to be good in Karnataka’s capital. The game will precede India’s short tour of Ireland.

Afghanistan and Ireland were accorded full-membership status at the ICC AGM in London last June.

Afghanistan expressed a wish to play its first Test against India and the BCCI readily accepted the proposal. Sources said the two governments also were keen to see Afghanistan begin its Test journey against India in India.

An official announcement is likely to be made at a press conference in New Delhi on Tuesday. On the same day, the Supreme Court has listed the matter related to the Justice Lodha cricket reforms case.
