KOLKATA: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Monday decided that its office-bearers who are ineligible as per the Justice Lodha Committee recommendations would “stand disqualified with immediate effect”.

Following a meeting of the CAB Working Committee here, CAB legal adviser Ushanath Banerjee said that the association would seek a clarification from the Lodha Committee on one point.

“The committee has decided that those who have been disqualified as per the (sic) disqualification (norms) will stand disqualified with immediate effect, subject to as regards the office of the assistant secretary a clarification is to be sought from the Lodha Committee. As soon as the Lodha Committee report on qualification comes, that will be immediately effective without any further delay,” Banerjee told reporters.

On the alleged comments of a CAB office-bearer relating to the Lodha Committee, Banerjee said: “There was an allegation that during the course of an informal meeting in Bangalore the honorary treasurer (of CAB) is alleged to have said that the CAB is instigating the Lodha Committee. The honorary treasurer has informed the house in no uncertain terms that he never said that and never uttered that word. The CAB has never instigated the Lodha Committee in any manner whatsoever.”
