In-form players equal big names in Twenty20

When it comes to big names or in-demand players, history plays little role in branding them as high profile in Twenty20 cricket. Names that have been in great form are always in great demand.

And in Champions League another aspect is being considered to qualify in this category. Players who had a good stint earlier naturally have an upper hand and are in big demand.

But not only there are these big names aplenty in Champions League, one of the living legends of Indian cinema industry has become the brand ambassador of this tournament. I had the pleasure of doing an acting stint recently for a film shoot. It's been good fun and going by the reactions on the set, it should be equal fun to watch.

Amitabh Bachchan is a big name and it will help in bringing up the noise. This edition should be good anyway in terms of the competition and as I said in-form players are in great demand and so is Big B.

Coming back to Champions League and the Aussie teams that will participate this time around, inaugural winner New South Wales will rue its absence miserably. But that is the beauty of this format in cricket.

As I said before the shorter the game the more chance for an underdog to win.

Victoria Bushrangers might have been hailed as one of the strongest teams on paper but in T20 you can lose the game in the blink of an eye. But you can't discount its experience of the first edition and that is its big plus. If you ask me, with Brad Hodge, David Hussey and Dirk Nannes present for Victoria, the team looks better positioned in terms of composition than perhaps the Redbacks, but like I said, the shorter form of the game guarantees nothing!

But then even Redbacks ain't here for nothing. I wonder if anyone is even qualified to be termed as underdog, especially in a tournament like the Champions League, where every team has found a berth based on merit. Yet if I have to choose between the two teams in terms of composition I would go for Victoria purely because it also won the KFC Big Bash and is perhaps a notch higher.

Surely Redbacks would like to prove me wrong.
