Clean Sports to appeal to IOC

October 29, 2013 02:25 am | Updated 02:25 am IST - Bangalore:

Clean Sports India (CSI), through a press release, declared that it will appeal to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to expel the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and constitute and ad-hoc committee to supervise Indian sport.

In the release, CSI president Ashwini Nachappa said: “CSI is extremely disappointed with the IOA, who have taken the entire sports community to shame once again by not adhering to the IOC’s last and final directive of amending their constitution as per the IOC guidelines.

“In its meeting held at Delhi on 27th October, the IOA has once again defied IOC by not amending their constitution to prohibit persons facing criminal charges in the Courts of Law.

CSI will appeal to the IOC to expel IOA and consider appointing an ad-hoc body formed by them to enable our sportspersons to compete under the National flag at the earliest.”
