U.S. wins the men’s 4x400 at worlds

LaShawn Merritt won a second gold medal at the world championships on Sunday when the United States blew away the field in the 4x400-meter relay.

Merritt, the 400 champion, ran the anchor leg and took the baton home in 2 minutes, 57.86 seconds.

Britain took silver in 3:00.53, and Australia picked up the bronze in 3:00.90.

The American team was a two—time defending champion and reigning Olympic champion.
