Tamil Nadu women win overall athletics championship

Tamil Nadu won the overall championship in athletics as the National women’s sports competitions (Group III) drew to a close here on Saturday.

Bebi Sumaya of Karnataka bagged the 200m gold in 25.4 seconds to complete the 100m and 200m double.

The results: Athletics: 200m: 1. Bebi Sumaya (Kar) 25.4s, 2. P. Jansi Rani (TN) 25.6s, 3. T.P. Remya Krishna (MP) 25.9s; 800m hurdles: 1. Nirmala (Har) 2:11.7s, 2. K. C. Shruthi (Kar), 2:14.1s, 3. P.M. Soniya (Ker) 2:16.5s; 4x100m relay: 1. Tamil Nadu 48.6s, 2. Kerala 49.5s, 3. Karnataka 49.7s; 4x400m relay: 1. Tamil Nadu 3:56.5s, 2. Kerala 3:59.1s, 3. Himachal Pradesh 3:59.4s; Overall championship: Athletics: 1. Tamil Nadu, 2. Karnataka; Badminton: 1. Haryana, 2. Andhra Pradesh; Table Tennis: 1. Tamil Nadu, 2. Delhi.
