Australian Olympic pole vault champion Steve Hooker is uncertain for the world championships because of injury.
Hooker strained the adductor in his right leg during training on Monday and team doctors are fighting to get him fit for the August 20 qualifying session.
He said on the website of Athletics Australia on Thursday that he was “50/50 at best of competing. We are going to do whatever we can to treat it aggressively.”
With 5.95 meters, Hooker is the season’s second best performer behind France’s Renaud Lavillenie.
The championships in Berlin will be held on August 15-23.
