Tamil Nadu’s Augustine Yesudas, who emerged as the fastest under-18 lad on Tuesday, shattered the 200m meet record on the final day of the 24th South Zone junior athletics championship at the Maharaja’s Stadium here on Wednesday.
New high
Kerala’s Ebin Sunny hit a new high in the under-18 boys pole vault with a personal best 4.55m while comfortably winning the gold. The host’s Oliviya Ann Maria Thomas (under-16 girls 1000m) and Tamil Nadu’s M. Mahalakshmi (under-18 girls discus throw) accounted for the day’s other records.
Kerala regained the overall team title with 883.5 points while Tamil Nadu, last year’s winner, finished runner-up.
