Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva has joined swimming superstar Michael Phelps in supporting the inaugural Youth Games in Singapore.

The IOC said that Isinbayeva, the world record-holder and two-time Olympic gold medallist, would attend the August 14-26 games as an “official ambassador.”

Phelps was introduced as an ambassador in February.

Isinbayeva announced earlier this month that she is taking an indefinite break after failing to win a medal at the world indoors in Qatar.

The Russian says the Youth Olympics “provides the perfect vehicle to inspire young people around the world to do incredible things through sport.” The Youth Games will feature 3,600 athletes ranging in age from 14 to 18.
