India's Yadav finishes 78th

August 13, 2012 01:37 am | Updated 01:37 am IST - LONDON:

Ram Singh Yadav finished 78th among 85 finishers in the men’s marathon in the Olympics on Sunday with a time of 2: 30.6 seconds.

It was the 31-year-old Indian’s worst career timing.

He had qualified for the Olympics with a time of 2:16:59 in the Standard Chartered Mumbai marathon in January this year. Yadav has nine other marks below 2:23 in his career.

Doubts were expressed about his fitness before he was cleared by the federation after a fitness trial.
