Gurmeet Singh in IAAF testing pool

November 06, 2011 12:21 am | Updated 12:21 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Race walker Gurmeet Singh has replaced javelin thrower Rajender Singh in the registered testing pool (RTP) of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

It is learnt even in the last update, Gurmeet was to have figured and not Rajender and through an oversight the latter's name was listed.

Gurmeet, who has an ‘A' qualification standard for the 20km event in the London Olympics, joins junior long jumper Renubala Mahanta in the IAAF RTP revised up to November 4. Mahanta is currently under a doping suspension.

These two are the only Indians in the IAAF testing pool at the moment.

The RTP allows the IAAF to know the whereabouts of athletes throughout the year in order to carry out surprise dope tests.
