A. George Stephen of the host college clinched a double gold in the field events on the opening day of the Anna University of Technology (Coimbatore) inter-zone athletic meet at the Selvam College of Technology grounds here on Monday.

Big win for RKS KN

S. Karthik, S. Sanjay and G. Siddharth picked three wickets apiece as RKS Kalvi Nilayam HSS thrashed Glint Primary by nine wickets in the CDCA under-14 inter-school cricket tournament for the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis Trophy at the PSG Medical College grounds on Monday.

The scores:

Keartiman MHSS 88 for seven in 20 overs bt Sri Nehru Vidyalaya MHSS 68 in 19.2 overs; Glint PS 35 in 15 overs (S. Karthik three for 10, S. Sanjay three for 1, G. Siddharth three for 6) lost to RKS Kalvi Nilayam HSS 36 for one in 7.2 overs.

Petson sizzles

Petson Mathews struck an unbeaten 81 in Cosmo Village Sports Academy's 82-run win over Tirupur Cricket Club in the TNCA-CDCA second division league for the Unidrive Line Trophy at the TNAU grounds on Sunday.

Soya Sakthi maintained a clean league slate to emerge the top team in the two-district (Coimbatore & Tirupur) ball badminton tournament, sponsored by Brindhavan Ball Badminton Club, at the Brindhavan Nagar courts in Coimbatore on Sunday.
