Dope appeal: respondent gets more time

January 19, 2012 02:08 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:15 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The National Anti Doping Appeal Panel (NADAP), headed by retired Justice C.K. Mahajan, has given additional time to the respondent, to “highlight some aspects'' in the case of the four leading athletes suspended for a year for steroid violations.

Though it was expected that lawyer R.K. Anand would plead the case of the four athletes concerned — A.C. Ashwini, Sini Jose, Tiana Mary Thomas and Priyanka Panwar — for reduction of punishment, the other party sought at least a ‘week's time' to bring forth fresh points.

Announcing the next hearing date for the Appeal panel, as January 27, Justice Mahajan said that the ‘respondent', the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA), should present a copy of the fresh observations to the “appellants'' by January 25.
