Usain Bolt will run the 100 metres this summer in New York City.
Organisers announced that the three-time Olympic gold medallist will compete in the Adidas Grand Prix on June 12 on Randall’s Island.
This will be Bolt’s first competition in the United States since the Beijing Olympics. He set his first world record at this meet in 2008. The Jamaican calls the track “lightning fast” and says he looks “forward to returning to the Big Apple.”
Bolt won the 100, 200 and 4x100 in Beijing in world-record time. He’s also the reigning world champion in the 100 and 200.
The New York meet, formerly known as the Reebok Grand Prix, will be the fifth stop on the inaugural IAAF Diamond League circuit.
