The six-time Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius will race in Australia for the first time next year in two legs of the Australian Athletics Tour.

Pistorius, the South African-born double amputee who also reached the semifinals of the 400 meters at this year’s London Olympics, will race at Sydney on March 9 and Perth a week later.

Known as the Blade Runner for his prosthetic racing blades, Pistorius said “the 4x400m team from Australia has always been strong so I know there will be strong competition at both meets. The rise of Steve Solomon to the Olympic final was outstanding, too, so fingers crossed I will see him on the start lists when I am out there.”
