Sidhanth Thingalaya clocked a National record of 13.65s in finishing second in the Belgian National championships in Brussels on Sunday, but found himself 0.5s short of meeting the Olympic qualification standard.
The 21-year-old Indian bettered his own National record of 13.66s timed in Melbourne in April last. He had clocked 13.88 in the heats on Saturday.
Belgians Adrien Deghelt (13.64s) and Damien Boorthaerts (13.73s) came first and third respectively.
Thingalaya has been aiming for the Olympic standard of 13.60s since the beginning of this season but had been unsuccessful so far. He has had a timing of 13.69s while winning the Federation Cup title at Patiala in April.
