Sports scholarships to the tune of Rs. 3.9 crores were awarded to students of the St. Joseph’s College of Engineering at a special function at the college premises on Tuesday.
More than 100 boys and girls, admitted under the sports quota, received the benefits of full fee concession along with boarding and lodgings, and some of them were chosen for monthly stipend also.
Mr. K. Shankar, Chairman, Indian Football League Referee’s Committee, gave away the scholarships in the presence of Dr. Babu Manoharan, Director, St. Joseph’s College of Engineering.
Students who received the scholarships include 15 in ball badminton, two in table tennis, 11 in basketball, 13 in volleyball, seven in football, 12 in kabaddi, and 11 in athletics. — Special Correspondent
