The Hindu-Radisson Blu inter-corporate beach volleyball challenge will be held at the Edward Elliot’s beach (Besant Nagar beach) on June 30 and July 1.

Employees from more than 30 companies in the city are expected to take part in the competition, the organisers said at a press conference to unveil the official T-shirt for the tournament, here on Thursday.

The teams, comprising five members (four players and a reserve), will play against one another in the preliminary round on June 30. The semifinals will be held on July 1.

Entry for spectators will be free. The companies participating in the tournament include Radiant SoftPro Technologies, Emergys Software, Infinite Computer Solutions, TCS, CTS, RR-Donnelley, Mobius Knowledge Services, Gamesa Wind Turbines, BSNL, Cavin Kare, Renault Nissan, TVS Infotech and Hospira Healthcare India.

The winner and the first runner-up will be rewarded with round trips to Bangkok besides cash prizes of Rs. 40,000 and Rs.25,000 respectively. The team finishing as second runner-up will be entitled to a vacation in a resort in Goa apart from Rs.15,000 as cash prize. Two participants will receive Rs.10,000 each for individual performances (best attacker and best all-rounder).

The presenting sponsor of the event, powered by Vijay Shanthi, is Air Asia. The tournament is supported by The Hindu Opportunities and the Tamil Nadu State Volleyball Association (TNSVA). The water partner for the competition is Repute and the first-aid partner is MIOT Hospitals. iAds and Events is the Event Manager.
