The vanquished Indian cricket team, barring a couple of players, traced its way back to home on Saturday, drawing curtains on a disastrous Australian tour during which it lost more than it gained.
As soon as Sri Lanka defeated Australia in Melbourne last night, the reservation plans were put afoot and the players lost little time in leaving for home today.
Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan, Rohit Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Vinay Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin and the entire support staff took a morning flight to Singapore today where they would board respective connecting flights to Mumbai and Chennai.
Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Praveen Kumar and Rahul Sharma left Brisbane this afternoon, again for Singapore where they would take the flight to Delhi.
Irfan Pathan and Parthiv Patel, with bases in Gujarat, will leave for home tomorrow.

Indian Team should learn from their mistake, which they made in past. I
am very sure that, this team can win any match at given day. They had
been number one time in past. I am sure this team will do better in
future. Indian Team management should work on their player.Instead of
IPL, BCCI should give more attention to National team.
We were inevitably at the receiving end at most part of the tours. It is
high loses are taken seriously and draw backs analysed and corrective
measures taken in all areas it is difficult to reach and retain the
number one position.Let us wait and watch how the board of control
cricket in India moves ahead.
Cricket is a virus on the psyche of India and the sooner we get rid of
it the better our latter will be. Please note that this point is being
stressed here not just because of our teams successive defeats abroad.
"traced its way back to home on Saturday" - this could be an innocuous
sentence and convey simple meaning or this may convey "that the Indian
team not only lost matches but also lost its way back home, wandered
here and there, and finally traced its way back to home on Saturday".
Anyway as long as there is jeer and cheer from the fans, it is ok!
It is tragic that we have learnt NOTHING from the TWO back-to-back disastrous Tours of England & Australia.A spineless Selection committee has behaved like an Ostrich , hiding its dumb-head under the sand of dismal failure and selecting the same tragic 'heroes'
to land us Supporters into another cycle of 'despair & shame' in the forth-coming Asia Cup.
let dhoni and his men learn lessons from the disaterous tours of england
and australia and raise against IPL. Auctioning of men is unheard for in modern society.our crickets are proud to be slaves for a few bundle of currencies
It is the first final match between Australia and Sri Lanka reveal the status of Australia. Australia plays its potential in pre final match against Sri Lanka, Australia won the match. Australia plays easy in the previous match and it is better for them to lose the match and it may be easy to play final match against Sri Lanka. It is for Australia, play against India in finals may lead to lose the series and Australia better for them to lose match against Sri Lanka and play finals against Sri Lanka.
This is the best time for them to do shopping and buy exotic things which are not available in India...They need not to worry because they'd performed well against Lanka [which happens once in a while] or why don't the bowlers bowl well to a batsman like Jadeja a 10.5 Crores worth man [who didn't make a well connected shot in the whole series]. Alas for us and not for them...
They must all be relieved that the agony is over.
But for Dhoni running out Gautam Gambhir, on purpose, in the tied match against SL, we would be in the finals and probably have won. Dhoni's ability to come up smelling roses despite the debacle in England and Australia should give him the tag of the TEFLON CAPTAIN. No captain has survived such a beating in two consecutive series in both formats of the game.
Why is it that if there is a rift in the team, the Captain is not called up? Why are Sehwag and others being held responsible even if there was a rift?
As a captain the buck stops there!
India needs to work out on the bouncy and fast pitches like that of
England and Australia. Just Being a Home Tiger wont help. Openers like
Sehwag and Sachin are totally out of form and with such a wrecked
bowling line up, surely they wont be able to regain their No. 1 Test
Playing Nation status again. Fletcher need to work out on the fresh
talents like Kohli and Jadeja and reunite all their strength back for
ASIA Cup.
Let our cricket fans not get too carried away with great wins or depressed with big losses. It is just a game, and our boys are pretty good, despite these little ups and downs.
If the rest of the country performs half as well as our cricket team, India would be a great nation.
