J. Agnishwar has said he is satisfied with his performance in the Bahamas International Open swimming championship, an Olympic qualifying event, held last month at Nassau. The 21-year-old, who won two medals — silver in 200m individual medley (2min: 08 sec) and bronze in 50m breaststroke (29.67) — said at a press conference here on Monday that the twin medals were a big boost to him.
“The last one year has been successful as I have won six international medals,” he said.
Agnishwar said he learnt a lot swimming along with Marco Koch (Germany) and Nelson Westby (USA). The Chennai-based swimmer also thanked his coaches David Marsh (USA), Girish (Chennai) and physio Mohan Babu, his parents and younger brother, for his progress.
On his chances of qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics, Agnishwar, a Mechanical Engineering student of RMK Engineering College, admitted that the chances were “very slim.” — Special Correspondent
